New Eyelashes, originally uploaded by smooth_d.

So, here are the new eyelashes. Please ignore the fact that I need an eyebrow wax. I know. I’ve been meaning to blog about them for a week now but I’ve just been so busy. Between transferring Overheard to WordPress, which was only mildly successful and still in progress, finding the perfect base template and redesigning it, trying hard to squeeze in MetroMix stuff into every free moment, random side projects, dealing with my Condo Association B.S., sleeping, eating and pooping, I’ve barely had time to do anything else. Oh, except go out drinking and catch a couple good movies.

The highlights of past, present and future:

-I think I got a drink named after me down at The Strip Club. Originally suggested Angie Bee, because it’s based off the Honey Bee, I may go back and suggest Smooth Dee. That was Jeremy’s idea. It’s a delicious, delicious drink.

-The Association stuff seems to be turning around and I may not actually have to commit myself into the loony bin. I don’t want to get into too much detail because it’s boring, confusing and always gets me worked up to talk about the crappy parts. I also don’t want to jinx it all by talking about it.

-The eyelashes, of course. They’re fabulous. Thanks, jeNC17!

-Martini Tour at LoTo tomorrow with Lesley who has moved to St Paul recently to class up the joint.

-The Wicker Man at Bunny and Coco’s last night. It was amazing and hilarious and crazy and stupid. I loved it. Almost as much as I loved the pretzel and marshmallow wicker man center piece, which I didn’t eat because marshmallow? Mm-Mm. No.

-It hit 41 degrees earlier this week.

Some lowlights of past, present and future:

-It hit -4 this morning. Hey, winter, we get it but we’re over you now. At least lend some consistency to your madness. Teasing us with 41 before slapping us with -4 is what drives people to do crazy, crazy things. Like, defiantly wear a skirt sans tights this morning. WTF was I thinking?

-The Association stuff. What’s the good if there isn’t a bad? I don’t like being underestimated because I’m female, being conned (or attempted, anyway) or not being listened to. If I tell you not to call me during my work day, I don’t really see why that’s so hard to follow. Not before 5pm on weekdays does not mean at 9:30 every morning. 8:15 on Sundays is also listed under Unacceptable.

-Speaking of… Association meeting tomorrow afternoon. It’s going to be a rough one, followed by dinner at TSC and aforementioned martini tour.

-Had drinks with the big brother the other night. Learned interesting news. I know this is probably along the lines of “tattling” (oh boo hoo) but perhaps my father should brace himself for that phone call. It involves a Uhaul. Who knows though, perhaps my lecture, berating and disappointment changed his mind. Doubtful though, because I tend to not know what the hell I’m talking about.

-We’re preparing to have the rows of cubicles moved closer to each other to make room for more rows. Our comfortable 10 feet or so will be reduced to about 4. Holy moly. Four feet? I can smell your socks from that distance, and listen to your phone conversations, and now there will be no buffer between me and the baby with the smelly diaper you’ll probably bring in.

-My dishwasher is not draining. This is probably the worst of all, because I’m handwashing my dishes and now I’ll have to waste an entire afternoon waiting on a repairman to show up in the 8 hour time frame I know they’ll give me only to tell me they can’t fix it that day, or something. And then charge me my left leg for it.

So, there’s that.

On the plus side, it’s totally Friday today and I’ll have a three day weekend next week. Woo.

The shoe, originally uploaded by smooth_d.

I found these adorable pictures on Amazon several months ago but hadn’t decided how I’d put them up, other than knowing they’d go in the dining room. They still need frames, but this is working for now.

Then, during our vacation in California, I found the shoe and dress (candle holder and vase respectively) in an antique store. They fit so perfectly with the pictures that I couldn’t leave without them.

1st August 2007

Thanks to Aaron, I’ve learned that the guys from the Town Talk Diner, which I totally love, are planning on a new venture in my neighborhood. Specifically, a steak house in the retail spaces directly below my condo. I will be living above The Strip Club. So Awesome. Come October 1st, you’ll know where to find me after 4:00pm.

12th May 2007

Another weekend spent painting the dining room, and now it’s finished. I learned from last week’s mistakes and discovered some painting best practices that made this afternoon much smoother than the first round. For instance, did you realize that painting tape actually works?

I did not intend to use the pink/melon like color in the dining room, but it matched my placemats so well, and those fabulous glasses I found at the Animal Ark Thrift store up the street from me. At $1 a piece, how can you miss?

Another great find at the thrift store was the (super cheap) Pink Croco Embossed Pet Carrier that I’ve been wanting since I stumbled on it at PetCo months ago, but didn’t feel like paying the nearly $40 for it. I looked it over extremely well, and it’s in perfect condition. Apparently dropped off at the thrift store because it didn’t work for the original owner’s pet the way she thought. Awesome. Totally my gain.

To complete my dining room, I am looking for at least two simple retro-looking, shiny silver metal chairs. I’m not too picky on the cushions because I can always have them covered. If anyone has any ideas on where I should start that search, other than craigslist (because I’m on there everyday), please let me know!

This picture shows the color better than
the next.

Clearly I need more pictures on that wall.

Built in nightstand!

Cute, huh.

Spaz approves of the biffy.

Ignore that gray box. Gotta toss it.

Need more frames.

Love these placemats.

Heart my floors.

The bookcase looks a little bleak now that
I have so much storage.

Big windows are awesome.

The built-ins are my favorite feature.

Check out my awesome ceilings. This is
throughout.

View from my bedroom doorway.

View from kitchen.

My view at night from my couch. The picture
kind of sucks, but the view is fantastic.

Cute kitchen.

Need to decorate.

More built-ins. The cupboard is pretty
deep. I don’t know if I can even fill it with
food.

I say ‘almost’ because there’s so much more wall space here than I’ve ever had, and I just don’t have the art to fill it up. That will be a gradual project over the next year.

Even though I picked a Uhaul that was too small, the move went very smoothly (thanks to my dad and Justin both having big-ass pick’emup trucks). The long stairway up to my floor wasn’t as bad as I thought. It wasn’t super easy, but it wasn’t a nightmare.

From start to finish, it took us just about 4 hours. Again, thanks to everyone who helped, I really appreciate it!

27th April 2007

It’s finally here. In three hours I’ll be the master of the universe.

At some point this afternoon, my cable will get shut off, and it won’t come back on again until the 30th. That’s tragic. I need to switch my Twitter settings from IM to phone so I can have some contact with the outside world!

Tomorrow is moving day, and then Sunday and Monday I’ll be unpacking. For the sake of OIM and my freakin sanity, a trip to somewhere with WiFi will be necessary at least once.

My cat has started to sense that something is up. The last time the livingroom was full of boxes she was stuffed into a cat-crate for 3 days and hauled across the country. Anything that I pick up is the devil and deserves a fierce hiss; cups, the broom, a bottle of Febreze. It’s adorable. She is going to hate my face for the next couple weeks.

The sounds of bumpin’ bass from the car down the block, and the joyful hollaring of “Yo, motherf’r, gimme a drink g’damnit” floating down in the alley below.

April 27th… April 27th… April 27th…

Pending a 10 day period to review and approve of the association bylaws and regulations, I’m going to be a condo owner by the end of April.

8th March 2007

Well, I put an offer on this today. I’ll know in a few days if it’s accepted.

Edit: link removed, it looks like the posting is gone. I’m told it’s still available, so there’s still a chance.
