In order to save some server space and limit the personal use of email, the following policy update has been forwarded to us. The new policy includes retention software. Hilarity (a much different, sadder sort) ensues. My bitchy comments in red.
Email Policy Update
You may have noticed on ********* that there is a new Email Retention Campaign underway in *********. The need for this is twofold. First, the overwhelming volume of email that is saved daily in Outlook causes unnecessary strain on the ********* system servers. Second, ********* is legally bound to follow the retention schedule for documents, whether they are stored electronically or printed.
In an effort to reduce the unnecessary use of server space and encourage effective email management, ********* will be implementing new email rules. Those rules will be distributed to staff as they are finalized, but described below is what is planned. One week in advance. One thing has been made clear
