Not too surprisingly, my spur of the moment choice to venture down to Puerto Rico this summer is not happening. It just wasn’t feasible for my potential travel buddies and I completely understand this. Besides, after several days of serious consideration, I decided it probably wouldn’t be the best idea for me either. I could afford it, but then I would be dipping into savings and I didn’t want to do that for a 3 day vacation.
So, I was pretty excited to learn that I will be able to totally afford going to some friends’ wedding in Mexico in December. With just a deposit now and the rest at the time of the trip, and a very reasonable all-inclusive booking price, I could spend 7 days with my friends south of the border. Flight paid for, hotel paid for, drinks, food, transporation… everything paid for! I can’t wait!
I made the call to the travel agent today, very excited to get the ball rolling, and she quotes me over $1600. Over twice the special “early booking” price. Why? Well, because the special price is based on double occupancy. You only get a deal if you’re cool enough to have someone go with you. Punished for being alone.
Cross Mexico off my list. Guess I’ll be staying put this year. This all makes me really want a vacation.
